The row between Veena Malik and pace bowler Mohammad Asif intensified as the actress questioned why an FIR has not been registered against Asif despite providing the required evidence.

Speaking in Lahore to media, she said Asif owes her Rs11.3 million and publicly asked the speed merchant to pay off his debt.

She inquired as to the whereabouts of the money that Asif had earned in the last few years. She alleged that Asif was not the national hero that he is portrayed as.

Providing receipts and reading out personal details from her cellphone, Malik said that her witnesses were ready to appear in court to corroborate her story.

She accused Asif of physically abusing her while under the influence of drugs. She added that the cricketer's name should be put on the exit control list so he could not leave the country

latest news about shoaib Malik's passport

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik, who got married to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza this week, moved the Indian High Court on Thursday for return of his passport.

The counsel for Malik requested the judge for hearing on the application but the judge said it can be heard on Friday and posted the matter accordingly. Malik’s passport is in the possession of a local court.

Hyderabad Deccan police had taken away Malik’s passport on April 5 and had asked him not to leave the country after a case was registered against him over a complaint from Ayesha Siddiqui who claimed to be Malik’s first wife.

After Malik divorced Ayesha, the Siddiqui family submitted an application to Hyderabad Police to withdraw the case against the all-rounder
Pakistan has been told to be patient while foreign teams build up enough confidence in the country’s security to send its national sides there on tour.

With hundreds of people having died in suicide bomb attacks across the country, Pakistan has become a no-go zone for foreign teams for more than a year.

Owing to the security and safety concerns of visiting countries, the Pakistan Cricket Board was forced to organize its home series at neutral venues in the United Arab Emirates, while its home test series against New Zealand last year was played on opposition soil.

Pakistan is also scheduled to compete against Australia in both test and one-day series in England this summer.

International Cricket Council chief executive Haroon Lorgat said: “Pakistan should be patient in these testing times as there’s a lack of confidence (in foreign teams).”

Lorgat is the first high-profile international cricket official to tour Pakistan since gunmen attacked the Sri Lanka team bus at Lahore last year, leaving six police officials and a van driver dead.

“The ICC is very keen to ensure Pakistan play at neutral venues rather than not competing at the international level, which I think will be detrimental for Pakistan cricket,” Lorgat said.

“(It is) an unfortunate reflection of circumstances that’s been beyond the control of Pakistan cricket. We are trying our level best (that) they play.”

Lorgat said Pakistan should take heart from the experience of his home country South Africa, which continued to play strong domestic cricket and was a good match for its international rivals after returning from apartheid.
“PCB has strategic plans to ensure that domestically the game thrives and it retains its place in the international cricket world by competing, and ensuring that they keep the national team as strong as they’ve ever been,” Lorgat said.

This year’s series against Australia in England is part of the ICC taskforce’s plans to help Pakistan compete against top teams at neutral venues.

Lorgat was in Pakistan as part of the buildup to the World Twenty20 tournament, which takes place in the West Indies. Pakistan is the defending champion after winning the trophy in England last year.

“It’s fantastic to visit the reigning champions Pakistan and I am sure they will perform well this year too,” Lorgat said.

Lorgat was hard-pressed to predict who will win the trophy in a month’s time, but chose Pakistan, India, Australia and South Africa as the four semifinalists.“Those are my four teams and I guess any big performance beyond that which Shahid Afridi did in the semifinal and final last year can win the tournament,” Lorgat said.

PCB chairman Ijaz Butt hoped Lorgat’s visit would go a long way to reviving international cricket in Pakistan.

“Haroon’s presence in Pakistan at a time when international cricket is not possible here is hugely reassuring and once again illustrates the commitment of the game’s global governing body to do whatever it can to help ensure cricket remains healthy in Pakistan,” Butt said.

Pakistan’s Twenty20 captain Afridi is confident his team will repeat last year’s performance in the competition, when it defeated Sri Lanka in the final to win the trophy.

“It gives you the belief and confidence that if you can do it once, you can do it again,” Afridi said.

Lorgat said the World Twenty20 will be the first ICC tournament in which five Asian teams — India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan — will be competing.

“Afghanistan has done exceedingly well to come this far and it is especially relevant to Pakistan as many of those in the (Afghanistan) squad learnt and played the game in or around Peshawar,” Lorgat said.

latest cricket news(Gambhir toils for hard-fought victory)

20 overs Delhi Daredevils 113 for 4 (Gambhir 57*, Bollinger 2-24) beat Chennai Super Kings 112 for 9 (Badrinath 30*, Nehra 3-26, Sehwag 2-18) by six wickets

Chennai Super Kings were restricted to their lowest total of the season at the MA Chidambaran stadium, and yet they threatened to defend it. On a pitch that offered bounce and sharp turn Delhi Daredevils lost three wickets for a song before Gautam Gambhir and Mithun Manhas batted with determination, fighting dehydration, to secure a valuable victory. It wasn't until 17.1 overs that Delhi's run-rate touched six for the first time in the chase and they overhauled 112 with eight balls to spare.

Delhi had lost to Punjab on a similar surface at home, although the Kotla surface was slower, and they had to contend with the humidity of Chennai as well after MS Dhoni chose to bat. However, their fast bowlers Ashish Nehra and Dirk Nannes, back after a finger injury, made vital incisions into the Chennai line-up, an advantage their spinners capitalised on. Chennai were 39 for 3 after the Powerplay, 55 for 6 after ten overs, and only an eleventh-hour boost propped them past three figures. Doug Bollinger hit the only six of the innings - in the 18th over - and it turned out to be the only one of the match.

The chase was anything but straightforward. David Warner slapped his second ball, from offspinner R Ashwin, to cover and Bollinger dismissed Virender Sehwag - Hayden leaping at slip to take the catch overhead - and Tillakaratne Dilshan in the second over. Chants of "Bollinger, Bollinger" resonated around the ground and he left Delhi reeling at 7 for 3.

DDPulls gone wrong: Dhoni tries to pull Nannes, Vijay tries it against Nehra. Both fail and Chennai are 23 for 3 in the fourth over.

DDDouble blow: Hussey lobs to cover, Morkel is caught at slip. Sehwag strikes twice in the 10th over reducing Chennai to 55 for 6.DD CSK Delhi start poorly: Warner, Sehwag and Dilshan fall in the space of eight balls and Delhi are struggling at 6 for 3 in the second over.DD CSK One good over: The asking-rate is over six. Delhi need 52 off 48 balls after a one-run over but manage to score 12 runs in the 13th.

DDCaptain Fantastic: Gambhir hacks at the equation by hitting two fours off Raina before pulling Bollinger to reach 50 off 51 balls in the 18th over Advantage Honours even

The first boundary came in the third over when, after four consecutive dot balls, Gambhir charged Ashwin and edged past slip. The next came in the fifth, when a ripping offbreak snuck through Dinesh Karthik's bat-pad gap and past Dhoni for four byes. The third in the sixth over, when Karthik flicked Bollinger through midwicket - the first commanding shot of the innings. Karthik fell soon after, though, miscuing a pull in Shadab Jakati's first over to midwicket, leaving Delhi on 38 for 4.

Delhi held Paul Collingwood back and sent in Manhas, who provided his captain sensible support. Gambhir, run out thrice in his last four innings, was steely: there were no ambitious shots and he played the ball late, cutting and glancing for ones and twos. The humidity was getting to him, running between the wickets became increasingly hard, but Gambhir ensured the asking-rate never touched six until late in the innings.

Slowly but surely Gambhir and Manhas steered Delhi to safety. Manhas released pressure by cutting L Balaji and pulling Ashwin for fours before Gambhir hit a brace of boundaries off Raina to end Chennai's challenge. He pulled Bollinger for four in the 18th over to bring up 50 off 51 balls, and victory came soon after. Gambhir and Manhas' match-winning stand of 75 had taken 11.4 overs.

Delhi's spinners, however, had provided their batsmen a sign of what was to come. They came on after the Powerplay and Dilshan, Sehwag and Amit Mishra strangled the scoring-rate with frequent wickets. Chennai slid from 52 for 3 to 55 for 6 in the space of two overs: Suresh Raina lofted Dilshan to deep cover, where Yadav ran in to judge the catch, Michael Hussey lobbed Sehwag tamely to cover, and Albie Morkel was caught at slip. Sehwag got him with a terrific delivery: it drifted into the left-hander from round the wicket, dipped, pitched on leg and middle, and spun across the face of the bat. Morkel pushed forward and the outside edge went to Collingwood at slip, who dived forward to take a low catch.

Chennai were reeling at 55 for 6 by the half-way stage, with only S Badrinath left of the specialist batsmen. The hosts managed to take 12 off the final over - 33 off the last three - to reach a total their bowlers attempted valiantly to defend, but in vain.
